Tread bands, projections, and surfaces.- A series of slightlyspaced rubber blocks 13, arranged transversely or obliquely across the tread, are mounted in metal shoes 10 secured to a cover 7 of rubberized leather or the like, which is fitted over the tyre 6 and secured to the rim bv hooks 8. The blocks 13 may be cemented to the shoes, or the shoes may be roughened to increase adhesion of the blocks.
