Tread bands, projections, and surfaces.- Pneumatic tyres are provided with rubber or other extra covers 2 of larger diameter than the wheels, which are not positively secured thereon but are kept in position by their deep sides, one or both of which is radially divided to allow the cover to be placed over the tyres before inflation, the parts of the sides being detachably connected by hinges 6 or otherwise. The covers may have smooth or non-skid treads 3, and one of their edges may be beaded and wired.
