Abstract

1,014,709. Carrier frame for oxygen lances. VEREINIGTE OSTERREICHISCHE EISENUND STAHLWERKE A.G. Aug. 25, 1964 [Aug. 26, 1963], No. 34777/64. Heading F4B. A blowing device for carrying out top blowing processes has a frame-like lance carrier slewable along a circular path, comprising two lance guides 6, 7 rigidly connected by a tubular reinforcing member 8, arranged with such a distance between them, on a circular arc that one lance 9 is in the operating position above the centre of the converter M and the other lance 10 is in the reserve position. The lance guides 6, 7 and tube 8 are pivotably mounted in bearings 4, 5 by the cantilever arms 1, 3, which may be slewed around by electric motor 19 to bring the reserve lance 10 into position above converter M. A tubular extension pipe is telescopically mounted in the reinforcing tube 8 which is connected to a blast pipe 15 to permit cooling air to be blown on to the lining of the converter. Pulleys 16, 17 and 18 prevent vertical displacement of the lances on pivoting of the lance carrier.
