Abstract

1,011,825. Electro-erosion. ATELIERS DES CHARMILLES S.A. Sept. 10, 1962 [Sept. 26, 1961], No. 34487/62. Heading B3J. An electrode for use in the erosion of metals comprises a conductive core 1 and a replaceable outer element such as 3 of uniform thickness. The outer element forms the actual erosion surface of the electrode and is replaced when worn. In one embodiment, Fig. 1, a single wire is wound helically around a square section core of copper or brass and may be soldered or spot welded thereto. In another embodiment, Figs. 5, 6, a square section core 1 is wrapped with a sheet 6 of laminated copper whose ends pass through a diagonal slot 12 in the core and are held in a slot 14 of an inner member 13 which is rotated to tighten the sheet. In a similar embodiment, Figs. 3, 4 (not shown) the core is of dovetail section and the ends of the sheet are held in a slot by a wedge. Specification 827,267 is referred to.
