Abstract

1,010,225. Rectifying. LICENTIA PATENTVERWALTUNGS G.m.b.H. Sept. 21, 1962 [Sept. 21, 1961], No. 36028/62. Heading H2F. A rectifier control arrangement, of the type having a transformer with its primary winding (e.g. 62) in series with one rectifier 1 and its secondary winding 42 supplying the control electrode of another, 2, has a bias winding 72 arranged to oppose the flux in the transformer due to the primary winding. With this arrangement a stronger firing signal is obtained for a given input, as the effect of the control signal in the primary winding is to reverse the magnetization of the core, not merely to increase it from remanence to saturation in the same sense. Preferably the transformer has a closed core of square loop material, and the primary may be a single wire passed through the core. In a parallel arrangement of rectifiers as shown, all the rectifiers may be turned off by opening switch 10. Rectifiers 2 and 3 will be fired only if the D.C. bias is present, and if this bias is arranged to be applied only when the load current is sufficiently great (Fig. 6, not shown) then only the minimum necessary number of rectifiers will be used. Arrangements for supplying three-phase loads and several singlephase loads are described (Figs. 6 and 7, not shown).
