Abstract

1,007,393. Soil stabilization; spring clips. C. I. WILLIAMS. June 18, 1963 [July 5, 1962], No. 5206/65. Divided out of 1,007,392. Headings E1F and E 2B. A method of re-inforcing a rock formation consists in inserting a conduit 12 into a hole drilled in the rock, injecting grout around the conduit, and then injecting grout through the conduit when the initial injection is at least partially set. The bolt 12 is anchored in the hole by rotating it to expand a sleeve 13b by a cone 13. A tube 20 is then inserted through a bearing plate 18 and is secured by an elongated flat spring clip 21, Fig. 5. The hole is sealed with a plastic composition 19. A nut 16 and a spacing ring 17 are assembled on the bolt and grout is injected through the tube 20. When the grout around the bolt is set further grout is pumped through the bolt. Grout pressures are up to 100 lbs./sq. in. The bolt may be encased in paper, and the cone 13 in polyethylene, before insertion.
