[Also in Groups V and XXVIII] A process for strengthening natural rock faces or artificial stonework comprises injecting into a natural cavity or an artificial borehole in the facing or stonework a mortar comprising 70- 15% of a synthetic resin binding agent consisting of an epoxy resin (such as an aromatic polyglycidyl ether) and a cold hardening agent (such as an aminamide or amino-imidazoline of monomeric, dimeric and/or polymeric, homo- or copolymerized or epoxidized unsaturated fatty acids and polyamines) and 30-85% of a filler (such as sand or gravel). The apparatus for carrying out this process, see Fig. 3, comprises a piston pump with a lateral supply inlet 16, the piston 9 having a flexible sealing facing 11 of fabric reinforced rubber which is of slightly greater diameter than the cylinder 10. A spigot nozzle with a sealing cock to prevent the escape of mortar once the injection apparatus has been removed, is used for the injection and alternative forms of this are illustrated in Figs. 1 and 2 (not shown).
