Abstract

100,700. Viven, J., and BessiÞre, G. Jan. 14, 1916. Ordnance design; sound of discharge, modifying.-The Specification describes a muzzle extension 4, of larger calibre than the barrel, which is attached to the barrel by a sleeve 3 having a shoulder 9 engaging the front edge of the barrel to form a gas-tight joint. The large calibre projectile 5 has an axial hole 6 through which the ordinary projectile passes when the gun is fired, the large projectile being thereby propelled and rotated, and the noise of discharge reduced.
