Abstract

1,005,800. Overhead travelling cranes. DEMAG-ZUG G.m.b.H. June 10, 1964 [June 12, 1963], No. 24138/64. Heading B8B. Box-type end girders 1, 2, Fig. 1 and the main girder 10 of a travelling crane have bolted connections 11 through plates 5, 8. The plates 5, 8 are initially welded to the girders for subsequent on-site erection by bolts 11. Apertures 15 with removable covers are provided on the outer sides of the end girders 1, 2 for access to the bolt heads or nuts bearing against the interior faces of the inner side walls. One of the plates 5, Fig. 4, may have dove-tail or like flanges 18 and a supporting ledge 7 to relieve the load on the bolts. In a modification the plate 8, Fig. 5, has flanges 20 for welding to the sides of girder 10 as at 22, 23, the arrangement permitting accurate adjustment of the distance between the end girders 1, 2 before welding. Small corrections may be made on-site by insertion of a rapid hardening plastic composition between the plates 5, 8.
