Abstract

Apparatus for discharging cigarette packets and the like from a pneumatic conveyer 1 comprises a suction conveyer belt 6 arranged at right angles to the conveyer duct section 1 and driven at an adjustable speed equal to or a little greater than the arrival speed of the packets. The belt 6 passes over a suction chamber 9 connected by ducts 11, 11 to an auxiliary suction fan 10 and is partially covered by an extended wall 201 of the duct whereby air is drawn down the duct 1 to assist the conveyance of the packets. The wall 201 progressively narrows the flow passage so that the outlet end 301 is substantially closed by the packets. The main suction fan 4 for the conveyer is connected by a pipe 3 to a branch 2 arranged at some distance from the duct outlet 201. Valve 5 provides for suction adjustment.
