Abstract

1,003,104. "Sponge mop". DRACKETT CO. Feb. 10, 1964 [Feb. 20, 1963], No. 5547/64. Heading A4F. A mop comprises an absorbent pad 10 having adapter plates 11, positioned near either end, extending less than the entire length of the pad which is attached to a substantially rigid backing plate 21, by fastening of the adapter plates 11 and metal backing plates 21 exclusively by slot and tab means 13, 24 to permit freedom of lateral movement of the pad. The metal adapter plates 11 are connected to the block 10 and a fabric 12 anchored to the block 10 over them. The slots 13 are defined by raised portions 14 formed integrally with the plates 11. A stop 25 (Fig. 3 not shown) may be provided to limit movement of the pad 10. In modifications the tabs may be on the adapter plates 11 and the slots in the backing plate 21. The plates may contain punched recesses for engagement with screws to allow the pad to be attached to other mop frames by conventional methods.
