Abstract
1,002,655. Stacking trays. N.V. MAATSCHAPPIJ TOT EXPLOITEREN VAN OCTROOIEN EN LICENTIES " MATEPA." May 29, 1963 [Sept. 20, 1962], No. 21392/63. Heading B8P. The four walls of an open box formed by folding up the sides 2 of a cardboard blank are joined at the corners by a corner joint consisting of a bent strip 4 fitted into slots 3 cut in the box walls and a block 6 inserted into the space defined by a corner and its bent strip. For extra rigidity a clasp may be fitted on the outside of the corner and engaging with the bent strip. The strip 4 is placed in the slots 3 with the folded ends 5 bearing against the exterior of the walls. A solid block 6 forms the corner post and is inserted into the space formed by the two sides 2 and the strip 4. For increased rigidity the folded ends 5 may be engaged with a corner clasp 7 held against the outside walls of the corner and forming an integral part of the strip 4. The post 6 may be longer than the walls to provide a clearance when stacked. If the walls 2 are deep rigidity is improved by a second similarly shaped strip 4 and external clasp 7 fitted into two additional slots located in the lower half of the walls.
