[Also in Divisions F2 and G3] In apparatus for dispensing gas through a valve in predetermined quantities or to a desired pressure in a receiver, e.g. a car tyre, by a succession of pulses, the duration of opening of the valve is controlled by a balancing member supplied with pressure fluid on one side through an adjustable choke contained in a tapered bore. As employed in the apparatus of Specification 1,001,408 for dispensing gas in predetermined quantities, the tapered choke bore 35 contains a tapered choke member 36 adjustable therein, against a spring 37, by the engagement of tapered portion 40 of screw adjusted tapered plug 41 with a friction reducing ball 39. The choke member may also comprise a ball or a disc upon a suitable guide shank. The screw adjusting knob 44 of the tapered plug 41 is sealed from interference by a cap 45. When embodied in air dispensing apparatus of Specification 772,257 for pressurizing a vehicle tyre receiver, the balancing member is supplied on one side, via the adjustable choke, with pressure fluid from the delivery line to the receiver which acts against a pre-set pressure on the other side thereof. When the pre-set pressure is above that required for balancing the balancing member, the latter opens the valve to feed the delivery line and pressure fluid slowly bleeds via the choke until the balancing member responds and closes the valve. The choke member is free to move back against a stop to permit the pressure communicated therethrough to return in opposition to that in the receiver and the pulses are thereby continued until balance is attained. An audible signal may be actuated on each pulse.
