Ce dispositif d’identification (2) est destiné à être installé au voisinage ou à l’intérieur d’une zone à circulation restreinte. Le dispositif (2) comprend un moyen d’extraction (20) d’une information d’identification d’un véhicule (30), un calculateur (22) apte à saisir une information d’identification extraite par le moyen d’extraction (20) dans une base de données pour déterminer si un véhicule (30) correspondant à l’information d’identification est autorisé à circuler dans la zone à circulation restreinte, et un moyen de restitution (24) configuré pour émettre un signal en fonction d’un résultat déterminé par le calculateur (22).
