Abstract

Device to facilitate access to self-service checkouts for the elderly or those with reduced mobility. The invention relates to a device for hoisting the baskets made available in the self-service at a height such that their emptying is facilitated. It consists of a housing (1) housing an electric motor (2) on the axis of which a pulley (3) winds a strap or cable (5) allowing via a pulley (4) located at highest point of the housing to raise the baskets (10) provided by self-service at a good height. Another version allows to include the bags, tote bags or caddies property of the customers. The device according to the invention is particularly intended to facilitate the passage of cash in the elderly or with reduced mobility.

Free services provide their customers with rolling baskets; but there is no device to raise said basket during the checkout, forcing the customer to bend almost to the ground to withdraw the purchases made. These repetitive actions can be very painful for the elderly or those with reduced mobility.

The device according to the invention overcomes these disadvantages. It comprises in fact according to a first feature a formwork housing a slide, such as that found on the drawers workshop and can withstand heavy loads. Said slide is mobilized by an electric motor acting by means of a pulley integral with the drive shaft and winding a strap or a rigid cable passing through a pulley fixed at the highest point of the formwork and coming to join the part mobile. Said movable part has a protruding indentation intended to fit the rim of which are equipped all baskets self-services. Said indentation is at a height such that an inclination of the basket, such as that which occurs during the movements of the user, allows the rim to pass over the indentation and cause a contact that starts the engine and therefore the rise said basket. A second switch makes it possible to stop the basket at a suitable height allowing the user to extract the contents without stooping. The basket being empty, the user removes it to store it, most often, by depositing it on the pile of baskets already emptied. It is the action of removing said basket from its support which triggers the return of the moving part on its base. By way of non-limiting example the formwork will have a height of 750 mm, a length of 500 mm and a thickness of 200 mm. The translation of the moving part will be ± 900 mm.

According to particular embodiments: - the slide may comprise a plate coming into contact with the ground and allowing translation in height, both the baskets provided by the free services that the bags or caddies belonging to users. - The triggering of the up / down / down sequence can be initiated by the weight difference of the basket supplied by the sign. (Full empty). - The triggering of the up / down / down sequence can be initiated for the entire cycle or partly by manually operated commands. - The triggering of the up / down / down sequence can be initiated by optical, magnetic or Hall effect switches without this list being limiting. Referring to these drawings the device comprises a housing (1) which is only partially shown in Figures 1 and 3. Said housing houses an electric motor (2) provided with a pulley (3) winding a strap or cable (5) passing through a second pulley (4) located at the highest point of the housing (1). A switch (12) located on the movable part (6) is triggered in the presence of the edge (9) of the basket (10) provided by the self-service and causes the motor (2) to start. The indentation (8) of which the movable part is fitted fits under the flange (9) of the basket (10) which is thus subject to the movable part (6). The whole rises. Two not shown switches limit the rise and fall of the moving part.

Figures 2 and 3 show on the one hand the basket (10) grasped by the indentation (8) and starting to rise and on the other hand the basket (10) stopped at the high point of its ascent.

According to variants not shown, the movable part (6) may include a plate in contact with the ground when the movable part (6) is at its bottom dead point and on which the carriage (10) is mounted. There are also attachment means for carrying a bag, a shopping bag or a shopping cart owned by the customer.

The device according to the invention is particularly intended to facilitate access to self-service checkouts for the elderly or those with reduced mobility.
