Abstract
Description
Radiateur sèche-serviettes Towel radiator
The present invention relates to a towel radiator, more specifically to a scale-type radiator.
Known towel rails of the prior art consist of a plurality of heating media, for example heating rods or heating panels. These bars or panels are generally attached to an amount, spaced apart from one another and superimposed vertically. It is thus possible to arrange a towel on a panel, so that at least one part of the towel falls vertically against one or more panels. The napkin being in direct contact with one or more heating parts of the radiator, it is effectively heated by conduction. Such towel rail is for example described in patent FR2911243. The outer walls of these radiators, including heating media, are conventionally designed metal type aluminum or steel. These metal walls have a high thermal conductivity, which allows efficient drying of the towels placed on such supports. However, when a towel is directly in contact with a large surface of a heating support, the surface temperature of said support can reach a maximum temperature allowed by the standards in force for this type of radiator. In general, a security system then stops the power supply of the radiator. Such untimely shutdowns reduce the efficiency of the apparatus. There is therefore a need for towel radiators for efficient drying, while avoiding heating media to reach too high temperatures. The present invention solves this problem in a simple way to achieve. More particularly, the present invention relates to the shape of the heating media. An upper part of said supports, intended to receive the napkin, forms an overhang with respect to a lower part. Said lower part is equipped with a heating element. Thus, the towel placed on the support falls on each side of the lower part of said support; each vertical pan of the napkin is then separated from said lower part by an air knife. The heating element of the lower part contributes to the radiation drying of the towel, while the air gap prevents the support from reaching temperatures that are too high for the safety of the apparatus. An object of the present invention is therefore a towel radiator, comprising at least one metal heating panel serving as a towel support, the support or supports having a substantially cylindrical shape of horizontal axis, the radiator being characterized in that a cross section of a support has the following characteristics: - a maximum dimension of the section in a vertical direction is greater than a maximum dimension of the section in a horizontal direction; a lower part of the section is positioned recessed with respect to an upper part of said section, so that, on either side of the support, an air gap is formed between said lower part and a vertical part of said section; a towel resting on said support; a heating element is incorporated in said lower part of the support. It is advantageous that the lower part of the support, separated from the napkin by air knives, be extended in the vertical direction to heat a large surface of the napkin. Preferably, a maximum dimension of the section in a vertical direction is at least twice a maximum dimension of the section in a horizontal direction, a dimension of the bottom in the vertical direction representing at least half of the total dimension of the section. Preferably, an upper portion of the section comprises a semicircular profile, including a horizontal base. According to a form of the invention, a lower part of the section comprises a rectangular profile, elongated in the vertical direction.
According to another form of the invention, a lower portion of the section comprises an elongate triangular profile in the vertical direction. The invention will be better understood on reading the description which follows and on examining the figures which accompany it. These are given as an indication and in no way limitative of the invention. The figures show: FIG. 1: a towel radiator according to one embodiment of the invention; - Figure 2: a cross-sectional view of a heating support according to one embodiment of the invention; - Figure 3a: a cross-sectional view of a heating support according to another embodiment of the invention; - Figure 3b: a cross-sectional view of a heating support according to another embodiment of the invention. Figure 1 shows a towel radiator according to one embodiment of the invention. The radiator 1 comprises 2 heated supports. In Figure 1 is shown a three-dimensional Cartesian coordinate system, comprising three axes (X, Y, Z). The supports 2 are of substantially cylindrical shape and extend parallel to a horizontal axis X. The supports 2 are fixed, by their ends, to uprights 3 arranged parallel to a vertical axis Y. The supports 2 are superposed vertically, two adjacent supports being separated by a space 4. The space 4 allows a towel to be placed on each of the heating supports 2. An outer envelope of the supports 2 is preferably metallic, for example steel or aluminum. In the latter case, the envelope may in particular be manufactured by extrusion. The radiator 1 further comprises a regulating device 5, in particular enabling a user to choose a desired heating intensity. The device 5 is also equipped with a security system.
Thermal probes are in contact with the outer envelopes of supports 2. When a temperature measured by one of these probes exceeds a limit value, the device 5 interrupts the heating supply of the supports 2. Such a security system allows avoid the risk of burns or even fire.
FIG. 2 shows a cross-sectional view of a support 2, in a sectional plane perpendicular to the X axis. A napkin 6 is placed on the support 2. The support 2 has substantially a keyhole-shaped cross section 7, that is to say, the section 7 has substantially the shape of a circle surmounting a rectangle, a dimension of said rectangle along a horizontal axis Z being less than the diameter of said circle.
The napkin 6 rests on an upper part 8 of the section 7. In the upper part, it is meant a part of the section 7 which is above, along the vertical axis Y, a part 9 of the section 7 having a maximum width along the Z axis.
A lower portion 11 of the section 7 is below, along the Y axis, the portion 9 of maximum width. On either side of the support 2, the lower part 11 of the section 7 is set back with respect to the upper part 8, and in particular with respect to the part 9 of maximum width. More specifically, we consider sections (12, 13) of the napkin 6, said panels falling vertically on either side of the support 2. A distance between the panels (12, 13) is substantially equal to the maximum width of section 7. Due to the recessed position of the lower portion 11 relative to the upper portion 8, an air blade 14 is formed between a pan 12 of the napkin 6 and said lower portion 11 of the support 2. Of Similarly, an air knife 15 is provided between the other pan 13 of the napkin 6 and said portion 11. In the example shown in Figure 2, the section 7 has a symmetrical shape along the vertical Y axis. The two air knives (14, 15) therefore have the same thickness.
According to another form of the invention, the section 7 may not be symmetrical along a vertical axis. However, according to the invention, an air gap (14, 15) is formed on each side of the support 2 between the lower portion 11 and a pan (12, 13) of the napkin 6. The lower portion 11 of the support 2 is equipped with at least one heating element 16. In the example shown in Figure 2, the casing 17 of the support 2 is made of metal and the element 16 is an electrical resistance pressed against an inner wall of said casing 17. Other heating elements known to the state of the technique can be used according to the invention, for example a heating film or a heat transfer fluid circuit.
The heating element 16 transmits heat to the envelope of the lower portion 11 of the support 2. Said envelope in turn heats the panels (12, 13) by radiation. In the example shown in Figure 2, only the upper portion 8 of the support 2 is directly in contact with the towel 6. Said upper portion may also be provided with heating elements 18, such as resistors similar to the element 16 This minimal contact surface between the towel 6 and the support 2 reduces the risks of overheating of the casing 17, such overheating may cause the power supply of the resistors (16, 18) to stop. Furthermore, the vertical sections (12, 13) of the napkin 6 are heated by radiation, because of the presence of heating elements 16 in the lower part 11 of the support 2. In addition, the presence of the blades of air ( 14, 15) between the napkin 6 and said lower part 11 accelerates the evaporation of the water that can soak the napkin 6. The napkin 6 is thus quickly dried. The lower the lower portion 11 is extended along the vertical Y axis, the greater the height of the sections (12, 13) can be heated by radiation.
According to the invention, a maximum height 19 of the section 7 along the vertical Y axis is greater than the maximum width of the section 7 along the horizontal Z axis. According to a preferred form of the invention, the height 19 is equal to at least twice the width 10; moreover, a height 20 of the lower portion 11 represents at least half of the total height 19 of the section 7. FIGS. 3a and 3b show alternative embodiments of the invention. More specifically, Figures 3a and 3b show a sectional view of heating media in a sectional plane perpendicular to the X axis.
Rather than a keyhole profile as shown in Figure 2, a cross section 107 of a heating support 102 may have a mushroom profile, as shown in Figure 3a. More specifically, an upper portion 108 of section 107 has a horizontal base semicircle shape. A lower portion 111 of section 107 has a rectangular shape, a width 121 of said rectangle along the horizontal Z axis being less than a maximum width 110 of the upper portion 108 along said axis Z. On either side of the support 102 , the lower part 111 is recessed relative to the upper part 108. The lower part 111 is equipped with at least one heating element 116. As in the example shown in Figure 2, the element 116 is for example an electrical resistance pressed against an inner face of the casing 117 of the support 102. The cross section 207 of a support 202 may also have a profile. inverted tear, as shown in Figure 3b. More specifically, an upper portion 208 of section 207 has a horizontal base semicircle shape. A lower portion 211 of the section 207 has the shape of an isosceles triangle pointing downwards, a base of said triangle being merged with the base of the semicircle forming the portion 208. The lower portion 211 is equipped with at least one element 216 heating.
Other forms of section of a heating support, for example a T-shape, are possible within the scope of the invention, provided that an air gap is formed on either side of a lower part. said support when a towel is placed on said support.
