Abstract

The suspended gutter support for a roof has a gutter retaining hook (19) attached by one branch (19b) to a fixing gripper (2) engaging the lower free edge of the roof. The branch has a movable clamp arm (8), to grip the roof, locked in place by a screw (14).

Description

The present invention generally relates and has essentially for

  object a device forming a hanging gutter support for buildings, intended to be attached or mounted at the base of the sewer of a sloping roof, preferably overhanging, of the type with gutter hook attached by a branch to a clamp in stirrup for fixing by overlapping on the projecting free lower edge of a covering face of a roof slope and by clamping it between a substantially straight branch forming a fixed jaw of the clamp and an internal movable jaw thereof variably associated with the other substantially straight branch of the clamp being actuable in clamping movement by a cooperating maneuvering screw, accessible from the outside and

crossing the wall of the clamp.

  The known state of the prior art reveals in particular a device of this kind in which the pliers with parallel branches of unequal lengths is formed from a section of rectilinear metal bar with a U-shaped cross-section profile with a flat core and parallel wings. , folded back on itself on the side of its wings in the form of a U-shaped yoke. This clamp is intended to be threaded on the projecting edge of the cover panel perpendicularly to the latter, so that the lower branch of the clamp is the long branch forming a fixed jaw applicable against the underside of the cover, so that the short branch is the upper branch carrying the movable jaw intended to be applied by clamping pressure against the top face of the cover. This movable jaw is constituted by a piece of sheet metal cut and folded in the shape of a double U with a flat common bottom, the proper longitudinal direction of which is transverse to the branches of the clamp and which extends longitudinally on the two opposite sides respectively by two folded legs at a right angle parallel on the same side upwards, coming to embrace bilaterally the short upper branch of the pliers to be housed respectively in two notches of the opposite longitudinal edges or wings, intended to guide the part which is movable vertically in translation by sliding in these notches. The two opposite long sides of the above-mentioned rectangular flat bottom extend on both sides respectively by two legs shorter than the previous ones, folded down on the same side, forming, with the above-mentioned flat bottom, an inverted U intersecting orthogonally with the previous one , its two shorter legs having their respective planes oriented transversely to the long lower branch of pliers while being engaged, in the extreme low position, between the two wings or lateral edges of this branch. The free transverse edge of each aforementioned short tab is serrated so as to be able to bite in the clamping configuration in the material of the blanket in order to cling to it. A manual head screw in flat ear passes through a tapped hole in the flat core of the short or upper clamp branch located in the middle between the two aforementioned notches in order to be able to come to a stop, at the end of the screwing stroke, against and in a hollow impression in the shape of a round bowl on the upper face of the rectangular flat bottom of the piece

  A gutter hook-carrying element is constituted by a flat metal bar of angular shape curved in a dihedral with arms of unequal lengths which form between them an acute angle corresponding at least approximately to the angle of inclination of the roof slope. The short arm of this hook-carrying element is mounted in a longitudinally sliding manner in extension of the long clamp branch while being applied against the bottom of the latter and guided in sliding movement between and by the two opposite wings thereof. This hook-holding element can be immobilized in a selectively adjustable position by means of a tightening bolt, the threaded rod of which passes through two elongated longitudinal slots provided respectively in the flat bottom of the long pliers branch and in the arm.

  The long arm of the hook-carrying element comprises, respectively along its two opposite rectilinear edges, two parallel longitudinal edges folded at right angles to the same side of said arm which further comprises, between its two edges, a longitudinal straight slot intended to the fixing of the gutter hook by an extreme rectilinear portion of a hook branch placed between the two aforementioned flanges of the hook-carrying element while being guided bilaterally in sliding by these flanges, so that the hook is selectively adjustable in relative position by means of the fixing bolt passing through said straight hook portion and said long arm of the hook-carrying element. The straight portion of the hook attachment branch comprises, on the internal or concave side of the hook, a gutter edge stopper in the form of a tab or tab folded down while the end of the opposite free branch of the hook extends on its external face or on the convex side by a glitter made of manually deformable metallic material intended to be bent by hand over and against the opposite free longitudinal edge of the gutter to hold it in place. The two edges of the long arm of the hook-holder element prevent any lateral deviation of the hook

  by pivoting around its fixing bolt.

  This known device has in particular the following drawbacks: it has an unsightly appearance on the corresponding visible upper part of the roof due to the apparent operating screw projecting upwards from the upper clamp branch; - It is difficult to mount for the operator, who must maneuver the screw above the assembly either by hand or with a specific tool; difficulty in mounting the device on a cover made up of a corrugated plate, in particular of fiber cement or sheet metal with curved or trapezoidal waves; - it does not include any marking guaranteeing its conformity with the European standard EN 1462 established by the European Committee for Standardization; - the aforementioned glitter is less wide than the gutter hook of o unsightly appearance after

installation of the gutter.

  The main object of the present invention is to eliminate or at least overcome the aforementioned drawbacks. To solve the problem thus defined, the device according to the invention is characterized in that the fixed jaw is constituted by the clamp branch applicable on the top face of the cover while the movable jaw is applicable against the underside of the cover being associated with the other branch of the clamp and the screw through hole being located outside

  of the clamp branch forming a fixed jaw.

  This arrangement has the advantage of eliminating any unsightly protrusion above the upper branch of the clamp by making the maneuvering screw more accessible and therefore more easily maneuverable. In addition, the mounting of the clamp especially at the top of a wave of corrugated cover plate is

  made easy with various types of tools (wrench or screwdriver).

  According to another characteristic of the invention, the clamp is of angular shape with non-parallel branches and the movable jaw is selectively displaceable bidirectionally in translation along said other clamp branch while being in contact with sliding contact on the internal face of that -this, by its maneuvering screw connected to the movable jaw which can be immobilized by positive direct blocking with wedging of friction contact between said internal face of pliers branch and the underside

of the cover.

  According to yet another characteristic of the device according to the invention, of the type with internal edges projecting respectively on the opposite parallel longitudinal sides of said other gripper branch, the aforementioned movable jaw is guided by and between these edges at least along its useful stroke and, according to yet another characteristic of the invention, this guiding means is supplemented by the fact that the movable jaw has a projecting appendage engaged with free sliding adjustment in a rectilinear longitudinal sliding guide slot formed in said other branch

of pliers.

  According to another characteristic of the invention, the

  gutter hook can be used on its own,

  that is to say independently of the clamp by the fact that it comprises at least two holes and preferably three non-aligned holes passing through the rectilinear attachment portion of said hook branch below the fixing bolt hole thereof, for the passage of nails or direct separate fixing screws of said hook alone on the

  building facade strip below the roof.

  The device of the invention is produced so as to

  comply with the aforementioned European standard.

  The invention will be better understood and other aims, characteristics, details and advantages thereof

  will appear more clearly during the description

  Explanatory which will follow with reference to the accompanying schematic drawings given solely by way of nonlimiting example illustrating a specific currently preferred embodiment of the invention and in which: - Figure 1 shows an isolated perspective view of the support device gutter according to the invention in its configuration before mounting on the roof and before laying the gutter; and - Figure 2 shows a side view in section of the previous device along the median vertical section plane of symmetry of the device in configuration mounted on the cover edge with

gutter installed and fixed.

  According to the embodiment shown in the drawings, the gutter support device according to the invention, generally designated by the reference numeral 1, comprises a one-piece assembly made of one piece material comprising a part 2 forming a clamp proper and a part 3 forming a hook holder. This assembly is formed from a bar or metal strip doubly bent or bent in opposite directions to constitute, on the one hand, the clamp 2 with branches of unequal lengths respectively short top 2a and long bottom 2b forming between them an acute angle for example around 15 and adaptable on the lower edge of a cover panel 4 with angle of inclination for example around 30 on the

  The two branches 2a, 2b of the clamp 2 are substantially rectilinear outside their bend 2 'of connection. The clamp comprises bilaterally, respectively along its two opposite parallel rectilinear longitudinal sides, two flanges 5a, 5b folded at right angles towards the inside or the concavity of the clamp while the hook-carrying arm 3 comprises bilaterally, respectively along from its two opposite parallel longitudinal sides, two flanges 6a, 6b respectively folded at right angles towards the part 2 forming a clamp, that is to say on the side of the long branch

of pliers.

  The internal active face of the short pincer branch 2a forming a fixed jaw is made rough at least locally or partially by at least two transverse edges or projecting protrusions preferably forming successive teeth spaced apart 7 to cooperate, by effect of partial penetration or attachment, with the adjacent face concerned of the cover 4 and for example advantageously provided in the form of teeth or serrations on the internal projecting edges 5a, 5b respectively along the parallel longitudinal sides

  opposite of said short gripper branch 2a.

  The long branch 2b of the clamp 2 internally supports the movable jaw 8 resting on the substantially flat internal face of the long clamp branch 2b between the opposite parallel longitudinal edges Sa, b thereof and movable in opposite directions in rectilinear translation the along a part of the long clamp branch 2b and in particular along at least its useful stroke while being in sliding contact with this clamp branch. In its movement, the movable jaw is positively guided by this long gripper branch by and between the longitudinal edges 5a, 5b thereof thus being bilaterally in sliding contact with these edges. To complete this guidance, the movable jaw 8 advantageously comprises an appendage or substantially vertical projecting finger 9 passing through a longitudinal rectilinear slot 10 for sliding guide formed in the long branch of clamp 2b while being engaged with

  preferably with free sliding adjustment in this slot.

  of the movable jaw 8, making it captive.

  The movable jaw 8 is constituted by a hollow piece in the shape of an inverted U or of a bridge or culvert with a substantially flat bottom and with parallel branches of unequal lengths comprising a short branch 8a situated on the side of the curved bottom or elbow 2 'of the clamp and a long branch 8b situated on the longitudinally opposite side and extending downwards by the appendix 9. The direction of width or of extreme transverse edges of this piece forming movable jaw is parallel to the direction of

  width of the cooperating pliers 2b.

  The flat bottom 8 ′ of this piece is, due to the unequal lengths of the branches 8a, 8b, inclined parallel to the short clamp branch 2a forming a fixed jaw and constitutes in a way the active face of the movable jaw 8 intended to cooperate by contact at least sliding with the underside of the cover panel 4 to block the clamp 2 by wedging on this cover panel. This active face is advantageously made rough at least locally or partially by at least two transverse sharp edges or projecting asperities or successive teeth spaced apart to cooperate, by hooking or partial penetration effect, with the neighboring face concerned forming a cover underside. . The movable jaw 8 is advantageously provided, along these two branches and its bottom, with stiffening ribs and in particular with two externally projecting edges 12a, 12b extending respectively along its opposite sides and in particular of the flat bottom of said movable jaw. The parallel rim portions 12a, 12b, extending along the flat bottom 8 'of the movable jaw, are thus parallel to the longitudinal direction of the short clamp branch 2a forming a fixed jaw and their external edges are advantageously serrated according to a toothing 13 intended to bite into the underside of the cover 4 in position

  jamming of the movable jaw 8 against this underside.

  The screw 14 has a head 14 'accessible from the outside and operable, for reasons of convenience, by means of one or the other of two different hand tools. For this purpose, this screw head 14 ′ has a regular polygonal peripheral contour, preferably hexagonal, so as to be operable by a key such as an open-ended open-end wrench, a tube wrench

  especially bent or pipe, an adjustable wrench or the like.

  This screw head 14 advantageously also has either a hexagonal contour or a hollow recess with a hexagon to be maneuverable by a hexagonal key, or a cruciform impression to be maneuverable by a

suitable screwdriver.

  At least one of the two parallel branches of the movable jaw 8 is crossed by the passage hole of the maneuvering screw 14. In the example shown, the short branch 8a of the movable jaw 8 has the threaded hole 16 for the screw 14 and the opposite or long branch 8b is crossed by a smooth hole 16 'coaxially aligned with the threaded hole 16 and of a diameter slightly larger than the outside diameter of the screw to allow possible free passage of the end of the latter. here in case

of necessity.

  The arm 3 bent in a flat strip, extending, by its short branch, the long branch 2b of the pliers, is provided, in its straight descending long branch, with an elongated longitudinal rectilinear central slot 17 for passage of the removable fixing bolt 18 of the gutter hook 19 consisting of an arcuate or arched part 19a with a concavity of conjugate shape of the external convex surface of the gutter 20 and of a rectilinear portion for example laterally offset 19b forming the attachment branch of said hook and applied by its substantially planar external face against the arm 3 while being fixed to the latter by the bolt 18 having for example a square base passing through a hole 18 ′ for example square of the attachment branch 19b of the hook 19. Thanks to the slot 17 of the hook-carrying arm 3, the relative position of the hook 19 is variable, being selectively adjustable by sliding the bolt 18 along the slot 17 to adapt the position of the hook 19 the functional configuration imposed by the roof and in particular so that the end 19a of the shackle free limb of the hook is at least approximately at the bottom

  During its adjustment movement of the hook 19 along the hook-carrying arm 3, the hook is guided and held bilaterally by and between the projecting edges 6a, 6b extending respectively along the opposite parallel longitudinal sides of the hook-carrying part of the arm 3 on either side of the slot 17 thereof, these flanges preferably extending beyond

  respectively opposite ends of this slot.

  The rectilinear portion 19b of the hook attachment branch 19 is provided, at its upper end, with a stop stop 21 for the corresponding longitudinal edge of the gutter 20, said stop preferably consisting of a folded tongue or tab or cut out of material with said hook while being in

  protruding from the concavity side thereof.

  The rectilinear portion of attachment of the branch 19b of the hook advantageously comprises two holes and preferably three non-aligned through holes 22a, 22b, 22c arranged for example substantially respectively at the vertices of an isosceles or equilateral triangle while being placed below the hole square 18 'for passing the hook fixing bolt 18. These holes are intended for the passage of nails or direct separate fixing screws of the hook 19 alone on a building facade strip below the roof. These holes will advantageously be

  in accordance with the aforementioned European standard.

  The hook 19 can advantageously be stiffened for example by one or more longitudinal ribs stamped projecting from the convex curvature of the

  external wall surface of the hook 19.

  The free end of the hook branch 19a, opposite its rectilinear attachment portion 19b, is extended upward by a straw 23 in a relatively thin metal flat strip so as to be easily deformable by hand and fixed to the external surface of wall of the hook branch 19a preferably by spot welding 24. This flake 23 preferably has the same width as the hook branch 19a. This initially rectilinear straw is intended to be folded by hand over the corresponding longitudinal edge of the gutter (after installation thereof having its longitudinal edge opposite abutting the tongue 21) by being either bent over the flange of corresponding edge of the gutter as shown in FIG. 1 or by being folded over the corresponding longitudinal edge of said gutter when this edge is straight, that is to say

devoid of rolled sausage.

  The hook 19 can advantageously be provided, at its lowest point, with at least one through hole

rainwater evacuation.

  Parts 2 and 3 of the device 1, constituted respectively by the clamp 2 and the hook-carrying arm 3, are of universal use because adaptable to different types of hooks such as half-moon, of the kind

said Vadot and others.

  The various metallic elements constituting the device 1 are advantageously protected against corrosion by an appropriate surface coating, for example by being galvanized or by an equivalent surface treatment. The operating screw 14 and the screw 18 are advantageously protected by a preferably reinforced anticorrosion coating such as that known under the name of DACROMET (mineral coating based on zinc

  and bichromate lamellar aluminum in the mass).

  The hook 19 may possibly be made of a plastic synthetic material on condition of adapting

  part 3 for guiding such a hook.

  A water evacuation hole 25 is advantageously provided at the low point of the branch 2b of the stirrup 2 forming a clamp. The invention is in no way limited to the embodiment described and shown which has been given only by way of example because it also covers all the means equivalent to those described as well as their combinations if they are carried out in the spirit and as part

of the following claims.

Claims (18)

  1. Device (1) for hanging gutter support (20) for roof (4) possibly sloping, preferably projecting, of the type with gutter hook (19) attached by a branch (19b) to a clamp in stirrup (2) of fixing by overlapping on the projecting free lower edge of a cover face (4) and by tightening it between a substantially straight branch (2a) forming a fixed jaw of the clamp (2) and an internal movable jaw (8) of the latter, variably associated with the other substantially straight branch (2b) of the clamp by being actuatable in clamping movement by a cooperating maneuvering screw (14) accessible from the outside and passing through the wall of the clamp (2 ), characterized in that the fixed jaw is constituted by the clamp branch (2a) applicable on the top face of the cover (4) while the movable jaw (8) is applicable against the underside of the cover ( 4) by being associated with the other branch (2a) of the clamp (2) and the through hole (15) of screws (14) being located outside the   clamp branch (2a) forming a fixed jaw.   2. Device according to claim 1, characterized in that the clamp (2) is of angular shape with non-parallel branches and the movable jaw (8) is selectively displaceable bidirectionally in translation along said other clamp branch (2b) in being in contact with sliding contact on the internal face of the latter, by its maneuvering screw (14) connected to the movable jaw (8) immobilizable by positive direct locking with wedging of friction contact between said internal face of branch of   clamp (2b) and the underside of the cover (4).   3. Device according to claim 2, characterized in that the operating screw (14) passes through the stirrup bottom (2 ') of the clamp (2) extending substantially parallel to the other clamp branch (2a ) by being connected to the movable jaw (8) so as to be able to move it alternately in the two opposite directions respectively   tightening by pulling and loosening by pushing.   4. Device according to claim 3, characterized in that the operating screw (14) is screwable and unscrewable in a corresponding threaded hole (16) of the movable jaw (8) through a smooth hole (15) of the wall of pliers.   5. Device according to claim 3, characterized in that the operating screw (14) is rotatably integral in translation with the movable jaw (8) while being screwable and unscrewable through a threaded hole (15) of the clamp wall.   6. Device according to claim 4 or 5, characterized in that the aforementioned threaded hole (15 or 16) is either directly tapped in the wall of the movable jaw (8) or of the clamp (2), or that of a nut attached to said wall coaxially to a smooth through hole correspondent thereof.   7. Device according to one of claims 2 to 6,   characterized in that the movable jaw (8) is positively guided in rectilinear translation by said other branch of pliers (2b).   8. Device according to claim 7, with projecting internal edges (5a, 5b) respectively on the parallel parallel rectilinear longitudinal sides of said other gripper branch (2b), characterized in that the movable jaw (8) is guided by and between these edges (5a,   5b) at least along its useful travel.   9. Device according to claim 7 or 8, characterized in that the movable jaw (8) comprises a projecting appendage (9) engaged in free sliding adjustment in a longitudinal rectilinear slot (10) for sliding guide, formed in said other branch of pliers (2b).   10. Device according to claim 9, characterized in that said appendage (9) is wider than the above-mentioned slot (10) and comprises two lateral notches (11) transversely aligned respectively on opposite sides of the appendage, each notch ( 11) overlapping the longitudinal edge adjacent to said slot (10).   11. Device according to one of claims   above, characterized in that the active face, preferably substantially straight, of the movable jaw (8) is inclined parallel to the clamp branch (2a) forming fixed jaw.   12. Device according to one of claims   above, characterized in that the internal active face of the clamp branch (2a) forming a fixed jaw is made rough at least locally or partially by at least two transverse sharp edges or projecting projections or successive spaced teeth (7) to cooperate by effect partial penetration or attachment with the relevant neighboring face of the cover (4) and for example provided on internal projecting edges (5a, 5b) respectively along opposite parallel longitudinal sides of said branch of pliers (2a).   13. Device according to claim 11 or   all of claims 11 and 12, with active face   (8 ') of movable jaw (8) roughened by projecting protrusions (13) preferably in the form of teeth to cooperate by effect of partial penetration or attachment with the neighboring face concerned of the cover (4), characterized in that said asperities or teeth are provided on external projecting edges (12a, 12b) extending respectively along the opposite sides of the movable jaw (8) parallel to the longitudinal direction of the clamp branch (2a) forming a fixed jaw. 14. Device according to claim 4 or 5 or all of claim 4 or 5 and one of   claims 6 to 13, of which the movable jaw (8) is a   hollow U-shaped piece overturned with a substantially flat bottom bridge (8 '), characterized in that the U-shaped piece (8) has parallel branches (8a, 8b) of unequal lengths with width direction or extreme transverse edges parallel to the width direction of the cooperating gripper branch (2b) while its flat bottom (8 ') externally forms the active face of said movable jaw (8) and of which at least one (8a) of the two parallel branches ( 8a, 8b) is crossed by the hole (16) of   passage of the operating screw (14).   15. Device according to one of claims   previous, pliers (2) in one piece with branches of unequal lengths (2a, 2b) of which said other branch forming a long branch (2b) is extended by an arm (3) in a straight flat band curved outwards and provided with a elongated longitudinal rectilinear central slot (17) for passing the bolt (18) for detachably fixing the gutter hook (19), passing through a corresponding hole (18 ') in the rectilinear portion of the attachment branch (19b) of said hook (19 ), applied by its external face against said arm (3) and thus selectively adjustable in position along said slot (17) while being guided and maintained bilaterally by and between projecting edges (6a, 6b) extending respectively along opposite parallel longitudinal sides of said strip (3) on either side of said slot (17) extending beyond respectively the opposite ends thereof, characterized in that said arm (3) comes from matter with the end of the long pliers branch (2b). 16.
