Abstract

The lock sliding bolt (1) rotates in a driver (1') by means of a tail engaged in the driver. The driver is guided in the U-shaped walls of the lock cover so that the bolt can be displaced translationally in a direction perpendicular to the plane of the head. It is guided at one end by the driver and at the other end by the head hole. A return spring (7) acts on the driver pushing the bolt outwards relative to the head.A lever (2) with a stop surface (2") rotating between the cover walls has two branches. One branch is supported on the driver and the other is constrained under a compression spring (5) between the branch and a support fixed to the lock cover. A movable stop (3) limiting rotational displacement of the lever is mounted on a support rod (4). This rod allows a second position of the lever stop in which the bolt leaving the head hole can be turned over.

Description

Locks generally have a locking bolt

This problem is solved according to the invention by means of an arrangement comprising: a sliding bolt mounted for rotation in a flat coach by means of a tail engaged in said coach arranged perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the tail, and the bolt, the driver being guided in the U-shaped walls of the lock box so that the bolt can be moved in translation in one direction and in the other, in a direction perpendicular to the plane of the headrest , being guided at one end by the trainer and at the other end by the hole in the headrest, - a return spring acting on the trainer, tending to push the sliding bolt, via the trainer , outwards with respect to the headrest, - a follower mounted for rotation between the walls of the lock box, on an axis of rotation perpendicular to said walls, and having a

  The bolt turning device works as follows.

  When the stop ring is at the end of its travel against the interior wall of the lock box, pushed by the return spring of the stop ring, the follower, pushed by its return spring, bears on the stop ring by its normal abutment surface. In this case the conformation and the stroke of the follower are such that, the bolt, pushed by its return spring, but retained by the trainer, itself retained by one of the branches of the follower, does not come out beyond the headrest, and therefore cannot rotate, because it is prevented from doing so because of the shape complementarity with the hole of the headrest in

which he remains engaged.

  If the stop ring is moved against the action of the spring tending to push it towards the wall of the trunk, the stop ring is then no longer opposite the normal surface of the follower, but opposite the wedge-shaped recess. The follower,

  pushed by its return spring can then rotate slightly

  additional, sufficient to allow the coach to move somewhat under the pressure of the coach return spring, and

  by this of the bolt, the bolt moves in a corresponding way

The normal stop situation is then restored and the thrust can be released on the branch of the follower due to the return to the starting conditions; the bolt being retracted into the hole of the headrest when one has pushed on the follower because when one pushes on the branch of the follower having the abutment surfaces, the other branch performs an identical rotation, having for effect of bringing the coach, therefore the bolt, against the action of the

  return spring of the coach, and therefore of the sliding bolt.

  The branch of the follower comprising the abutment surfaces can advantageously be extended somewhat to facilitate this thrust

  allowing the stop ring to return to the normal position.

  As can be understood from the description which

  precedes, the turning of the sliding bolt of the lock comprising the turning bolt turning device according to the invention can be carried out without the aid of any tool. These manual operations are further facilitated if the stop ring and the follower comprise means,

  already described, facilitating the action of the fingers.

  It should be noted that the displacement of the stop ring with compression of its return spring, in order to then be able to turn the sliding bolt, is facilitated if simultaneously one pushes on the branch of the follower comprising the stop surfaces, because, thanks to a slight spacing of the follower relative to the stop ring there is no friction of the stop ring on the stop surface during this movement. If, as we will see later on

  description of the return of the stop ring to its initial position, the

  branch of the follower is equipped with an extension allowing to exert this light push easily, the above operation is

even easier.

  Note in Figure 1, the bolt 1 of a mortise lock and its driver 1 ', both viewed from the rear, the nut 2, the movable stop 3, its support rod 4, and its spring return 8, and finally the return spring 7 of the coach 1 '. It is then possible to turn the sliding bolt. It then suffices to push on the branch of the follower comprising the abutment surfaces, against the action of the return spring 5, so that the movable abutment 3 can return to its normal position, under the effect of its spring. 8, due to the erasure of the side of the abutment surface 2 ", caused by the rotation of the follower obtained as said above. Note on the drawing, in Figures 2 and 4, that the follower has a short extension 9 intended to provide a bearing surface

  convenient to exert the thrust mentioned above.

  Of course, during this small rotation of the follower, which

  returns it to its normal stop position, the movable bolt has

  found, under the effect of the coach, himself pushed by the branch of the

  follower with which it is in contact, its normal position in the

  which it is engaged in the hole of the headrest. Due to the return spring 8, the stop ring now remains in its normal position,

  and can only leave it if it is moved voluntarily.

  In the case of the exemplary embodiment shown in the drawings, the stop ring 3 has, on the right in the drawing, a smaller diameter allowing the nail to pass through to move it voluntarily to the left in the drawing, in view to allow the bolt to be turned over, and the return to the normal stop position of the follower and the return to the normal position of the sliding bolt, according to the process described

upper.

  Of course, even a simple ring, without any particular means of passing the nail, can also be used, its displacement being

  possible without tools but only being less easy.

Claims (7)

Claims   1. Lock comprising: - a sliding bolt (1) rotatably mounted in a flat driver (1 ') at   means of a tail engaged in said coach (1 ') arranged perpendicular   on the longitudinal axis of the tail and of the sliding bolt (1), the driver (1 ') being guided in the U-shaped walls of the lock box so that the sliding bolt (1) can to be moved in   translation in one direction and in the other, in a perpetual direction   perpendicular to the plane of the headrest (6), being guided at one end   by the coach (1 ') and at the other end by the hole in the head   third (6), - a return spring (7) acting on the driver (1 '), tending to push the sliding bolt (1), via the driver (1'), outwards relative to the headrest (6),   - a nut (2) rotatably mounted between the walls of the service chest   rure, on an axis of rotation perpendicular to said walls, and having   a general form of lever with two branches, one of the branches is   drawing on the coach (1 ') and the other branch being placed under the   stress of a compression spring (5) installed between said branch   che and a fixed support integral with the lock box, characterized in that - the stop (3) limiting the rotational movement of the follower (2) consists of a body mounted on a rod (4) disposed between the walls of the box lock, parallel to the axis of rotation of the follower (2), on which it can be moved in translation in one direction and in the other between the walls of the lock box, in the direction of the axis of said rod support (4), being placed under   the constraint of a spring (8) tending to maintain it at one of the ex-   hoppers of its stroke, the branch of the follower (2) which is pushed by   the return spring (5) of the follower applying by a normal surface   abutment male (2 ") against said abutment body, - the follower comprises, beside its normal abutment surface (2"), a wedge-shaped recess (2 ').   -8- 2. Lock according to claim 1, characterized in that the stop body is a ring (3).   3. Lock according to claim 2, characterized in that the   ring (3) has at least one peripheral groove.   4. Lock according to claim 2, characterized in that the   ring (3) has peripheral grooves.   5. Lock according to claim 2, characterized in that the ring (3) comprises, on the side where it is pushed against the internal wall of the lock box, being in the normal abutment position, a part of smaller diameter, of a dimension sufficient in the axial direction to be able to pass a nail between the internal wall of the lock box and   the part of the ring (3) having the largest diameter.   6. Lock according to one of the preceding claims, charac-   terized in that the follower (2) comprises, at its end pushed by the return spring (5) an extension (9) of sufficient size to allow pushing on the follower (2) by means of a finger, by example the thumb.   7. Lock according to claim 6, characterized in that the conformation of the extension (9) is such that when the follower is in the normal stop position, the extension (9) does not protrude outside of the locker box.
