Abstract

The windscreen wiper device (D) comprises a windscreen wiper arm (2) carried by a support (3) mounted on a guide member (g) extending substantially parallel to one side of a screen (1) to be wiped, and means (E) for driving the arm in alternating sliding along the guide member, such that windscreen wiper arm (2) is displaced in terms of alternating translation, substantially parallel to the direction of another side of the screen to be wiped. The drive means (E) extend over just one side of the screen (1) to be wiped; the guide member (g) consists of a rail (4) extending over the same side as the drive means; the support (3) for the arm (2) consists of a carriage (7) able to slide along the guide rail (4) whilst at the same time being firmly held on this rail; and the arm (2) is unique and carries wiper means (21) which extends substantially over the entire dimension, transversely to the guide rail, of the screen (1) to be wiped, the arm (2) being set into the carriage (7) at just one end, the other end of the arm being free.
