Abstract

Compactor system, consisting of a container (4) fed via a delivery chute (5), of a removable wall with a cross section which decreases in size slightly from the bottom towards the opening, lining the wall of the container on the inside, and of a piston (9) whose rod (18) is provided with means (8) for moving it cyclically between a low position inside the container and a high position and for exerting a compacting pressure in the low position. The container (4) is of parallelepipedal prismatic shape, the removable wall consisting of as many plane flaps (11) as the container comprises faces.

  COMPACTION BLOCK, PARTICULARLY FOR HOUSEHOLD GARBAGE

  The invention relates to a compacting block, in particular for household waste, consisting of a container fed by a feed chute, a removable wall with slightly decreasing section from the bottom towards the opening, doubling inside. the wall of the container and a piston, the rod of which is provided with means for moving it cyclically between a low position inside the container and a high position and for exerting compaction pressure

in the low position.

  The rejection of household waste, even in the context of individual premises, is greatly facilitated when they are compacted in order to reduce their volume, therefore their handling, and to avoid their too rapid fermentation. The available compacting blocks are used with a bag of flexible material such as plastic material between the wall of the container

and the removable wall.

  During the compaction operations, this removable wall pro-

  tege the bag and prevent its deterioration either by compacted garbage or by the piston itself. After compaction, when the container has been removed from the block,

  the removable wall is removed and the undercut it has created for the or-

  hard compacted makes it possible to extract the bag containing this garbage.

  However, this removal of the removable wall is often difficult,

  owing to the large internal surface which it presents in contact with the or-

  hard compacted. In addition, the wall is bulky, awkward to clean and

relatively expensive.

  The object of the invention is to remedy these drawbacks and, to do so, the container is of rectangular section, the removable wall being

  consisting of as many flat flaps as the container has faces.

  Thanks to this very economical arrangement at the manufacturing level,

  cation, each flat flap is easily removed individually from the container because there is no stress against the compacted garbage. Cleaning

  Advantageously, each removable flap comprises a fastening wing formed by a double fold of the flap, the first of which has a slope directed towards the interior of the container, a spacer being arranged in the fold,

  Thus is created all around the container a funnel formed by the first folds of the removable elements which facilitates the fall of the garbage inside the container. Furthermore, the necessary undercut is obtained in a particularly simple manner by the spacing member which can be a simple cleat. Finally, the folds and the spacers ensure the maintenance

  Preferably, the piston is articulated on the rod near its bottom and carries an inverted U-shaped caliper, the branches of which receive, at the

  height of the piston, of the shoes engaged with slides.

  While reducing the height of the assembly, this ensures better stability and better positioning of the piston relative to the

flaps and container.

  An embodiment of the invention is now described in

The piston 9 itself is produced in the form of a body similar to the body of the hollow container 4, the bottom of which receives a U-shaped iron 16 carrying the axis

  The two sheets forming the upper wall of the piston are folded to form two uprights 19 which, on the one hand, allow the passage of the

  rod 18 and, on the other hand, receive a double inverted U-shaped bracket 20 which envelops

  These branches 21 are joined by plates 22 which carry. pads 23 engaged with slides 24 formed by folds of the side walls of the chassis 1. The user, when the container 4 has been removed from the chassis I by the door 3 and emptied, first places a bag of plastic material 15 in the

  container so that its edges overflow and fold outwards.

  He then places the four flaps 13 which are positioned as shown in

  Figure 3. The compacting block can then be used in a conventional manner.

  When the piston is in the high position, the garbage is discharged through the chute and the hatch 6. The piston is then brought into the low position by its means

  During its movements, the piston is guided exclusively by the pads 23 which cooperate with the slides 24 at its height without influence from the rod 18 which is articulated on the axis 17.   It will be noted that the fold 12 of the flap 13 placed under the opening of the chute 5 facilitates the flow of garbage, while the same folds 12 of the other three flaps return them to the interior of the container. It will also have been noted that the bag is protected by the four flaps 11 and maintained

  in position by the double folds 12 and 13 and the tabs 14.
