Abstract

The subject of the present invention is a lock of the mounted-on projecting type, especially for a motor vehicle. According to the invention, the locking mechanism is arranged inside a cassette-shaped housing 1 capable of being engaged by translational movement into a receiving case 2 which is formed on the edge 3a of the door panel 3 and the bottom of which comprises an elastic compression element 20 forming an end-of-travel stop of the receiving case, means being provided for immobilising the housing in the receiving case at the end of travel, the elastic element being compressed.
