Abstract

Disposable sandals made from flexible sheet material are cut to a pattern which combines the sole piece with a flap on each side slotted so that the flaps can be secured together over the wearer's foot. Applicable to sandals made from cardboard covered with a padding material such as expanded polyethylene and/or a non-skid varnish. The sheet material may be pre-printed. Avoids use of ancillary fastenings to secure the flaps to each other or to the sole.

Description

 The present invention relates to a sandalette comprising a sole and two lateral tabs, arranged to be folded and connected together to form a loop in which the foot is introduced.

 Known sandals of this type generally have separate parts interconnected, and in particular tabs assembled by means of connecting elements such as buckles or any other similar means. The manufacture of these sandals remains relatively expensive, even when the overall design is simplified to the maximum.

 The present invention proposes to produce a sandalette for which the manufacture and assembly are extremely simple and which can also carry an impression and thus serve as an advertising medium.

 For this purpose, the sandal according to the invention is characterized in that the tongues comprise means making it possible to link them together to form said loop, and in that said sole, said tongues and said connecting means are made of a piece by cutting a flat material.

This design allows an extremely simplified manufacturing, which includes a first phase of preparation of the flat material serving as raw material for the production of the sandalette, and a second phase of cutting out a piece of the different elements that compose it. Advertising printing can be carried out on the flat material, on one or both of its faces and before or after the cutting operation.

 With reference to the drawings, the sandal has a sole 1 è which are connected two lateral tabs 2 and 3, cut from the same flat material. The lateral tabs 2 and 3 each have at least one notch 4 which is extended by a slot 5 extending approximately to the middle of the width of the tabs.

The flat material from which the compresld comm sandal is cut out shows this more particularly in fig. 1, a layer of cardboard 6, provided with s; upper surface of a padding constituted by a layer of synthetic foam 7, such as for example polyethylene foam. The surface of the cardboard 6 can be coated with a varnish or a synthetic material having non-slip properties and simultaneously protecting the cardboard from heat.

 To constitute the actual sandalette, the tongues 2 and 3 are folded up and connected together by the connecting means constituted by two notches 4 and the corresponding slots 5 which are slid into one another. As each of the tabs preferably has several slots 5, one or the other of these slots will be used depending on the dimensions of the foot.

 As mentioned earlier, the sandalette can also serve as an advertising medium. For this purpose, we will print a decoration or advertisement, preferably on the bottom surface of the sole.

 The manufacture of the sandal shown is carried out as follows: the cardboard initially carrying a coating on one of the faces is provided with the padding layer 7, this layer being constituted, for example, by a thin layer of polyethylene foam deposited on a paper support which will be stuck on the cardboard. The cardboard can receive, before or after this operation, its protective layer 6. When the flat material is thus prepared, the sandalette can then be cut in one piece according to the profile shown in FIG. 2, after which it is ready for sale.

A decorative and / or advertising print can be worn on one or both sides of the sandalette, before or after the cutting operation.

Of course, different embodiments are possible.

In the simplest case, the flat material may have only one layer. Furthermore, the materials described in the previous embodiment, could also be replaced by various other materials. By way of example, the cardboard could be replaced by a sheet of synthetic material, this material being more particularly recommended when greater resistance and a longer service life are desired. However, one of the essential goals of this achievement is the creation of sandals at extremely low prices, for limited use, and which can be discarded after use or as soon as defects appear. In particular, one of the intended uses relates to distribution on planes or in railways for long distance journeys. On the other hand, the connecting means comprising the notches 4 and the slots 5, can of course be replaced by different connecting elements, provided that these elements are made by means of the same flat material which is used to form the 'the whole sandalette, and that these elements can be cut from the same flat material simultaneously with the sole and the side tabs.

Each pair of sandals consists of either two identical pieces or two symmetrical pieces in a mirror. The cutting operation
is preferably carried out by stamping carried out by an automatic machine 2.

REUENDICATIONS 1. Sandalette comprising a sole and two lateral tongues, arranged to be folded and connected together to form a loop in which the foot is introduced, characterized in that the tongues comprise means making it possible to link them together, to form said loop and in that said sole, said tongues and said connecting means are made in one piece by cutting out a flat material. 2. Sandalette according to claim 1, characterized in that the flat material is a multilayer material. 3. Sandalette according to claim 2, characterized in that the flat material consists of cardboard comprising, on one side, padding such as, for example, polyethylene foam. 4. Sandalette according to claims 2 or 3, characterized in that the cardboard comprises, on one or both sides, a non-slip coating consisting, for example, of a layer of synthetic material or a varnish. 5. Sandalette according to one of claims 1 to 4, characterized in that said connecting means comprise at least one notch arranged in the vicinity of the free ends of the tongues, to allow the realization of the loop, and a slot which extends said notch. 6. A method of manufacturing the sandal according to one of claims 1 to 5, characterized in that one prepares initially the flat material in which the sandalette is intended to be cut and in that one then cuts out a part simultaneously the sole, the two lateral tabs and the connecting means. 7. Method according to claim 6, characterized in that the cardboard is first coated with layers of padding material and non-slip material, and in that the sole, the side tabs and the connecting means are then cut by a stamping process. 8. Method according to claims 6 or 7, characterized in that the flat material is printed before it is cut.
