Abstract

The plant consists of a row of electroplating cells, each cell being located between a pair of contact rollers so the moving strip forms a cathode. Each cell is flat and horizontal, with a rectangular cross-section, and contains two flat insol. anodes, one mounted above, the other below, the strip. Polymer bars preclude contact between the strip and the anodes. Each end of the cell has a diaphragm restricting the flow of electrolyte, which travels in counter-current to the strip and falls into a trough leading to a tank fitted with a pump returning the electrolyte to the cell. The tank is also fitted with an electrolyte regeneration system. High electric currents can be used to obtain dense Zn coating from a plant with short overall length.
