Abstract

The air inflow unit (1) is fitted with a diffuser (3) and an automatically adjusted cone (4). With the cone (4) in the upper position, closing the opening (12) the incoming air is directed to the upper layers of the room and mixes with the warm air before descending to the lower, occupied, levels. Air is exhausted at lower levels either through wall fans or louvres. The position of the cone is automatically adjusted by the outside (8) and inside (9) thermostats operating together. Thus during hot weather the cone (4) will be at its lowest position allowing the incoming air to be directed downwards without mixing. The control system is arranged to adjust the direction of air flow progressively according to the prevailing ambient temperatures.
