Abstract

1,235,835. Ventilators. ANDREWSWEATHERFOIL Ltd., and G. T. K. DEAN. 3 March, 1970 [3 March, 1969], No. 11266/69. Heading F4V. In a control arrangement for a heating and ventilating system comprising an air flow valve 22 arranged to control the supply of fresh air or recirculated air into a recirculation duct 10, and a damper valve 19 movable between a " heating " position (shown in dotted lines 19a) and a " cooling " by-passing position (shown in full lines), the valves 22 and 19 are interconnected by an operating rod 28 whose movement is adapted, through lost motion linkage, to permit preselected settings of the two valves to be independently overridden during operation of the system if prevailing conditions in the room 12 to be heated and ventilated prove these to be inadequate. Movement of the rod may be effected manually, or automatically by a temperature responsive device sensing the temperature of air in the room 12. The air flow valve 22 comprises two valve members 23 and 24 which are interconnected through linkage 25. Fresh air is supplied through an opening 26 in the duct wall. An extraction duct 21 closable by the member 23 is provided for recirculation air. The system is disposed above the ceiling 11 and a fan is located in the duct 10 above the inlet 14 to the room 12. The operating rod 28 is formed at its upper and lower ends with slots 29 and 31 which engage pins 30, 32 on the valve members 19, 24 or an extension thereof. A weighted arm 34 is pivotally connected to the valve member 24 at 35. The arm 34 whose pivoting movement is limited by the pin 32 is engageable with an abutment 36 which is manually adjustable between an upper " fresh air " position and a lower " recirculation " position.
