Abstract
The torque converter has two retroactively couple differential gear trains, the cage of the first train absorbing the output of the input shaft, while that of the second acts on the output shaft. The two gear trains have their planetary pinions coupled together in pairs, the ratio between the first pair being different from that between the second one. The input shaft is solidly coupled to the cage of the first train and the output shaft to that of the second. A fixed stop, or pressure bearing regulate fluctuation and distribution of drive and resistance torque, acting on one or more of the rotary components and forming couplings with non-constant effect.
