Abstract
The magnesium consists of powder, granules, etc., which is injected into the melt through a tuyere with an outlet and which widens conically outwards. The magnesium is injected into the melt at a speed of 0.04-10.0 m/second, and at a rate of 0.2-1.8 grams/second and per tonne of molten iron. The rate and speed of the addn. of Mg prevents molten iron being driven out of the ladle when more than 100 tonnes of iron are being treated.
