Abstract

The two stroke engine with a balancing piston (9) at the bottom of the crankcase (5) has a crankshaft with one crank driving the main piston above and an adjacent crank driving the balancing piston below, the latter housed in a cylinder (12) at the bottom. Air is sucked into the top of the upper cylinder (1) through a port (19) at the side, and a pump can inject small amounts of lubricant through this port. By using an external tube (21) between the carburettor (20) and the bottom of the counter cylinder (12) a rich fuel and air mixture is injected underneath the balancing piston. The injection end of this tube carries a sleeve which screws into the all of the counter cylinder, and which forms a chamber housing a non return valve with a spring arounds its spindle. The compressed mixture is then forced by the balancing piston through an external tube (30) to an inlet point above the main piston, near the spark-ring plug.
