Abstract
Calorific value, flame velocity and ignition temp. of gases used in flame cutting operations are improved by adding a liq. hydrocarbon mixt. in a fixed ratio. The liq. is kept at a constant level in an expansion tank and reaches the centre of a Venturi-nozzle in the gas stream in the centre. The gas space of the expansion tank is connected by a pipe to a bore at the opposite side of the Venturi nozzle centre and is inclined towards the liq. mixt. outlet. At low gas flow rates, expansion tank gas blocks the inflow of the hydrocarbon mixt. more than at high speeds so that it has a self-regulating effect.
