Abstract

The fixed output winding generator provides both a.c. and d.c. outputs using switching poles, switching being independent of the output winding current. The laminated carcase of the generator holds tapered rectangular cross-section poles spaced by slots. All poles are identical and have their windings connected in series and one distributed evenly around the rotor. The distributor is again evenly spaced, having its blades spaced by an insulator and is equal in number to that of the poles. The generator has a pair of brushes each consisting of two small brushes. The width of each small brush is equal or slightly less than half that of the distributor blades.
