Abstract

The fixed brush motor provides a coupling which is independent of the rotor's direction of rotation. This is achieved by having two switching poles associated with each principal pole. The motor carcase is laminated and has tapered principal poles evenly distributed around the rotor volume spaced by large and small slots. Principal poles are positioned between the large slots and a small slot is situated between principle and switching poles. The inner faces of both types of poles lie on the same surface of revolution. Two separate circuits constitute the windings of each pole type, each set of windings being connected as separate series circuits. Distributor electrodes equal in number to that of the rotor poles are connected to the pole in the rotational direction of the electrode.
