Abstract

An electrical generator having a fixed inductor. It may provide either an AC or DC output or it may be designed to provide an AC output only. The design minimises sparking due to switching. The generator carcass consists of a lamination stack forming six basically prism shaped poles. These poles are distributed symmetrically and are separated by four large and two small slots again arranged symmetrically about the axis of rotation. The winding set includes four compensation coils mounted on the poles associated with the two large slots. The remaining active coils have the same number of turns as those providing compensation and are connected in series with them.
