Abstract

A block of insulating material (1) on mounting feet (11, 12, 13) contains two terminal clamps (2). These consist of strip folded to form a baseplate (20), two parallel side (21) containing holes (23), and downward directed noses (22). Pivoting pieces (3) turn about projecting trunnions (30) in the holes (23). The lower part of the pieces form curved and serrated jaws facing the baseplate, and ending in an inverted T the sides of which form stops (34) which abut the lower face of the side plates. A spring is located between the Tee and the noses (22). When the stripped end of a cable is pushed into the clamp it is held in place, without shearing forces acting on it, by the spring pressure on the jaw. The cable can be released by counter-pressure on a lug (35) by a special tool inserted into the socket.
