Abstract

A banding tool has a pair of jaws (12, 13) to receive the end of a band (34) emerging from a buckle (36). A separate movable clamp on the tool grips the band and is retracted by a screw to draw the band through the buckle while one of the jaws (12) abuts the buckle. After tightening, the tool is pivoted about the line of contact of that jaw (12) with the buckle in the direction remote from that jaw. The other jaw (13) is shorter so that it does not engage the buckle during the initial pivoting. Thus, the band can be bent back on itself without having to slacken the clamp slightly first. <IMAGE>
