Abstract

A hose clamp comprises a band 1 provided with spaced slots 8, a guide element 2, adapted to be secured to a first end of the band via the slots therein, and a slide 3 adapted to engage the guide element 2 with a second end of the band interposed, wherein the slide carries a screw member 4 of which the threads engages into the slots in the band when the slide and the guide are interengaged to tighten the band. As shown, the guide element 2 consists of portions 5 and 6, the portion 6 being secured to the end of the band by teeth 7 struck from the base of the portion 6 and engaged with a pair of the slots 8. The portion 5 is secured within the portion 6 by bent-over portions 5a; the slide 3 is then inserted in a substantially channel section part 11 of the portion 6 and the free end of the band engaged with the screw member 4. In another arrangement. Figs. 6 and 7 (not shown), the base of the guide element includes an extension which is bent back upon itself, and provides the teeth for interlocking with the slots 8. In another arrangement the slide may be hinged to a side of the guide element.
