Abstract

On chauffe du trioxyde de molybdène contenant du potassium à une température suffisamment élevée (au moins environ 525 degrés C) pour rendre le potassium soluble dans l'eau chaude, on trempe le trioxyde à une température inférieure à environ 400 degrés C et à une vitesse d'au moins environ 30 degrés C par minute, on lessive le trioxyde refroidi avec de l'eau chaude 50 degrés C-100 degrés C pour lessiver le potassium solubilisé et, après séparation liquide-solides, on dissout le trioxyde de molybdène dans de l'hydroxyde d'ammonium pour former des molybdates d'ammonium que l'on peut recueillir et que l'on calcine ensuite en oxyde molybdique de qualité chimique contenant moins de 100 ppm de potassium. Le procédé est avantageusement effectué en conjonction avec le grillage de la molybdénite.
