Abstract

The system seals a flexible sack filled with packages etc. The top edge is rucked together to form transverse folds constituting a neck, which is temporarily held in position by a ring, which can be opened while it is tied or banded. The neck is formed by gripping two diametrically opposite points on the top edge and pulling them apart to stretch the edge taut and flat. The edge is then passed between two rotary driving members while keeping it within a restricted zone, so that a series of transverse folds are formed in it.
