Abstract
Liquid from one side can be pumped through a treatment process and returned to the other side. The membrane is sealed into the walls of the vessel and can be pressed completely against the wall in either direction. In between the membrane is free floating. When attached to a reverse osmosis process feed soln. is stored in the lower part and concentrate in the upper part. During the high pressure part of the cycle soln. is pumped round the osmosis unit and back in the top as concentrate. During the low pressure part of the cycle, feel soln. is pumped into the bottom thereby discharging the concentrate to waste. The design reduces the pump differential head thereby reducing energy requirements.
