Abstract

In a domestic yoghurt-maker, an electric resistance heater is used to process yoghurt in pots at a thermostatically controlled temp. Actuaton of the heating circuit is controlled by a microprocessor, pref. a commercially available standard component designated LM 3911. The microprocessor is pref. in circuit with an electromagnetic relay used to switch on and off the heating element. The microprocessor, output amplifier relay etc. are pref. mounted in a printed circuit card of integrated form. The thermal contacts of the microprocessor are joined the heating element by a conductive link which pref. serves also as a heat screen for the microprocessor. The microprocessor is more reliable and robust than Bimeta thermostats.
