Abstract

A yoghurt fermenting device is claimed of the type comprising a thermally-insulated casing containing an electrically heated support plate for ferment-seeded pots of milk to be warmed to a desired temp. at which the electric heating circuit switch is opened by a bimetal element. Essentially, the bimetal element is shielded from direct thermal radiation from the electric heater and is brought to the same temp. as the support plate by thermal conduction from the plate via a metal link between the plate and the bimetal element; once opened, the heating circuit switch has to be reset manually. Used for domestic production of yoghurt in batches of up to about 10 pots. A simple and inexpensive attachment which ensures precise automatic control of fermentation temp. at an adjustable setting, the yoghurt being processed under optimum conditions.
