Abstract

La présente invention concerne un procédé de purification de l'acide téréphtalique en vue de le libérer des impuretés organiques. Suivant l'invention, ce procédé consiste à effectuer l'hydrogénation, à une température de 210 à 320 degrés C, d'une solution aqueuse à 10-30 % d'acide téréphtalique contenant des impuretés organiques sous une pression permettant de maintenir ladite solution à l'état liquide, en présence d'un catalyseur-membrane en un alliage composé de 90 à 98 % en poids de palladium et de 2 à 10 % en poids de ruthénium. On introduit l'hydrogène pour l'hydrogénation dans la solution d'acide téréphtalique à travers le catalyseur-membrane sous une pression de 10 à 150 atm. La présente invention est applicable dans la production de fibres polymères et de polymères << choc >>.
