Abstract

An internal combustion has its big end bearing made in two parts. The connecting rod(5) is fitted with an eccentric (10) which runs on the crankpin(7). With this double bearing the crank pin(7) is slightly past top dead centre when the piston(3) has reached the top of its stroke. When the sparking plug fires the pressure inside the cylinder(1) can immediately produce a turning moment on the crankshaft(9) because of the forward position of the crankpin(7).
