Abstract

The private vehicle with luggage boot has the rear wheels mounted on a cradle rocking in the chassis in two or more bearings. The intermediate shaft between engine and driving wheel rotates coaxially in the cradle bearings, the engine being mounted on the vehicle centre line in a cooling air passage with a flap to allow heating of the cab by the engine air. The engine is coupled to the intermediate shaft by a centrifugal clutch, pulleys and belt, while the shaft is coupled to the driving wheel by sprockets and chain. One shaft end has a starter dog for engagement by a mechanism on the cradle, and which can be used to reverse it by pulling on the rope.
