Abstract

A heat pump, has a compressor which delivers Freon gas at pressure to a condenser (34) which is cooled by air from a fan (35). This air is then used for the central heating of a private house. The liquefied Freon leaving the condenser passes through an evaporator (20) made of copper tubing immersed in a tank (15) of water. The water is supplied from a suitable underground source and gives up its heat to evaporate the Freon which the flows to the compressor (26) to complete the cycle.
