Abstract

The system produces heat and/or a refrigeration effect from mechanical energy and if necessary from the thermal energy of water. It has a closed circuit containing a refrigerating medium with an evaporator, a compressor, a condenser and an expansion unit in succession. The water supplies a water turbine coupled to the compressor. The evaporator can be an indirect heat exchanger between the water and the medium. Alternatively the evaporator can comprise a first heat exchanger as described, and a second heat exchanger between the medium and an auxiliary refrigerating medium.
