Abstract

A greenhouse (S) or other enclosure with a large glazed area contains a heat exchanger (1) in which air is blown over a battery of finned tubes. During the day when heat is being gained from the sun, the air in the enclosure heats the water which is circulated by a pump (5) to a reservoir (2). At night, the valves (14, 15) between the reservoir and the heat exchanger are closed and the water is circulated by a second pump (9) to a heat pump (6). The refrigerant from the heat pump is circulated to the heat exchanger (1) in which it is condensed.
