Abstract
The heat exchanger forming part of a gas fired boiler is constructed from plates (1) and tubes (2) of high strength and corrosion resistant material. The plates (1) have rows of equally spaced holes with flanges (4) of equal height. The tubes (2) are an interference fit in the holes so that the plates have to be forced onto the tubes. The plates (1) are arranged to form parallel layers with the back of each plate abutting against the edge of the flanges (4) of the adjacent plate. The use of an interference fit between tubes (2) and holes ensures good thermal conductivity between tube and plate.
