Abstract

The bleed valve for bleeding air from a central heating system consists of a cylindrical body (10) housing a cylindrical float (32). The body is connected to a radiator or pipe by the screwed lower end (24). The upper end is covered by a plate (26) with a small central hole (28) and secured by a screwed cap (14). When the body is full of air the float rests on the base of the body and the air can escape through the hole (28). When the body fills with water the float rises until the rubber pad (34) is pressed against the seat (30) and blocks the hole so that no water can escape.
