Abstract

A pressure maintaining valve has a cylindrical body (1) containing a piston (3) and sealed with an end cap (2) secured by a nut (4). The piston carries a rod (5) which closes the valve (6) when pressure is admitted to the space above the piston. Fluid flowing into the space below the piston is sealed by the valve until the pressure rises to a valve equal to or greater than the reference pressure on the upper face of the piston. The valve then opens but closes if the supply pressure falls below the reference pressure.
