An air-removing valve device comprising a housing, a chamber defined by the housing, a chamber inlet and outlet for coupling the chamber to a liquid supply line, the valve in use being arranged so that air be collected at the top of the chamber; a float in the chamber; an air release valve at the top of the chamber, the air release valve comprising a concave or convex valve seat with ventilation openings therein; a flexible diaphragm that is normally seated against the valve seat to close the ventilation openings; and a coupling between the diaphragm and the float thanks to which, when the float descends, it detaches the diaphragm from the seat to discover the ventilation openings and allow air to escape into the atmosphere.
